Time sure moves slow when you're not having fun. As our industry is largely dependent upon advertising and corporate communications, these are areas realizing the biggest cutbacks in spending. It depends upon one's business plan as to whether these are bad times or horrible. For us, just bad. Our assets at www.WorldClips.TV have lost little if any value and we have never positioned ourselves as a distributor. We are content creators and our content has never been better.
It is no secret that aggregation is the business model de jour. It has it's advantages and disadvantages. The question is, "Is it the next business model to fall out of favor?" Every content producer must ask the question, "Is this where I make my commitment?" Good footage has a long shelve, but after a time all stock footage content becomes historic footage.
The fate of those original few heretics who break the paradigms is usually martyrdom. I'm no martyr, so maybe this is a time to wait and see what happens. The stock market needs to survive October and the election. The time to make our move will probably be in late November...unless things change, as they always do.
